Community of Fonthill
The Village of Fonthill is one of the nicest places to live on the Niagara Peninsula, indeed in all of Ontario! Almost anything a person might need is within a short distance of Town Square Manor.
The Fonthill business district has two large grocery stores, many specialty shops, banks, restaurants and pubs. Adjacent to Town Square Manor are the Pelham Town Hall, the Public Library, and Peace Park which from May to October holds a Farmer’s Market every Thursday and from June to September stages community concerts. The LCBO and Beer Store have outlets nearby.
There are many opportunities for recreation. The new Meridian Centre has an indoor walking track and a full complement of seniors’ programs. The Steve Bauer Trail makes for a nice walk in the woods. Fonthill has been designated a Cycling Friendly community and after a few minutes of cycling, you can be riding along country roads or along the Welland Canal Trail. Several conservation areas are within a short drive: St John’s, Shorthills Park and the Lathrop Nature Reserve. In season you can see the blossoms and pick your own berries in the many fruit farms in the area.
Fonthill has several dentists and fitness facilities, alternative medicine clinics, a chiropractic clinic, an optometrist, and three pharmacies. Wellspring Niagara is a brand new facility offering support to people living with cancer. The new hospital in St Catharines is only 18 minutes away. There are churches of all the major denominations within the village and many organizations in which to get involved such as Rotary Club, Lions Club, and Pelham Cares. Town Square Manor is ideally suited to a great and active retirement.
Fonthill is located in the centre of the Niagara Peninsula. Welland, St Catharines and Niagara Falls are all within easy reach. Hamilton and Buffalo are only an hour away. There is good public transportation by bus or train from St Catharines to Toronto.
